The Blues Brews and Barbeques on the first weekend of February kicks off a month of festivals, followed in quick succession by the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival which attracts people from around the world to sample the best wines in the region. The Marlborough Sounds is known for its seafood and can be sampled in one day at the Havelock Mussel Festival in March. You can then burn off that wine and seafood with the Forrest Graperide, starting from Renwick you cycle in a loop through the Queen Charlotte Drive and Havelock back to Renwick to quench your thirst with the latest Sauvignon Blanc Reserve in April and after all that if you're still interested in seeing the area try the St Clairs 1/2 Marathon in May. For those really enthused there is the Marlborough Marathon which is held in December each year.

Blenheim is the central hub to the Queen Charlotte, Pelorus and Keneperu Sounds, and only 1.5hours from Kaikoura and Nelson, and only 3.5 hours to Golden Bay.
